Review notes
- Source article did not provide linked related-article URLs, so related articles are listed as plain titles only.
- The article references video libraries and Powtoon Capture, but no separate permissions or plan limits were specified in the source, so none were added beyond the stated 2-video-per-slide limit.
- The source mixed object and background instructions; this draft separates them into task-based substeps for clarity without changing behavior.
Summary
Add a video to your Powtoon as either a background or an object. Background videos sit behind other content on the slide, while video objects can be moved, locked, and animated like other objects.
Before you start
- You must be working in Create mode in Powtoon Studio.
- You can add videos from the Videos tab or from the Backgrounds tab, depending on how you want to use the video.
- If the video is longer than the slide, Powtoon will prompt you to either extend the slide or trim the video.
Steps
Add a video as an object
- Go to the slide where you want to add the video.
- Select the Videos tab.
- Search for a video or browse the available video libraries.
- Hover over a thumbnail if you want to preview the video first.
- Select the video you want to add.
Add a video as a background
- Go to the slide where you want to add the video.
- Select the Backgrounds tab in the library on the right side of Powtoon Studio.
- Search for a video or browse the available video libraries.
- Hover over a thumbnail if you want to preview the video first.
- Select the video you want to add.
Choose what to do if the video is longer than the slide
- Review the prompt that appears when the video is longer than the slide.
- Select one of the available options:
- Extend Length to make the slide longer to match the video
- Trim Video to shorten the video to match the slide
Extend a video across multiple slides
- Add the video to the slide.
- Select the slide thumbnail for the scene you want to extend.
- Hover over the three dots in the bottom-right corner of the slide thumbnail.
- Click Extend.
- Adjust the new slide length if needed.
What happens next
- The video is added to the slide as selected.
- If you add the video as an object, you can move it around the slide, lock it in place, and apply entrance, exit, and movement effects.
- If the video is shorter than the slide, it plays until it ends and then the last frame stays visible.
- Each slide can include up to 2 videos: 1 background video and 1 video as an object.
