Review notes

  • Source article did not provide exact internal help center URLs, so related articles are listed as plain titles.
  • Title was rewritten into a task/question format for search and retrieval.
  • The article combines FAQ content into a procedural guide because the source did not include a clearer workflow-specific task.
  • Plan-based limits and feature availability were kept conservative and reflect the source text only.

Summary

Powtoon Capture lets you record your screen, your face, or both using the Powtoon Capture Chrome extension. This article covers setup requirements, recording limits, and where to find your recordings after you stop.

Before you start

  • You need a Powtoon account.
  • Install the Powtoon Capture extension in Chrome.
  • Make sure you have a webcam and a working microphone.
  • Powtoon Capture is available to all Powtoon users, including free and paid plans.

Steps

  1. Install the Powtoon Capture Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Open Powtoon Capture in Chrome after the extension is installed.
  3. Start a recording and choose whether to record your screen, your face, or both.
  4. If the control menu covers part of your screen, drag it to a different area before you continue recording.
  5. When you finish, stop the recording.

What happens next

After you stop recording, Powtoon processes the capture and opens it in the Powtoon player page. The recording URL is also copied to your clipboard so you can share it right away.

Your recordings are saved in your Workspace for 3 months from the recording date, and then they are deleted automatically.

Limits and caveats

  • Recording length is limited to 70 minutes.
  • Available recordings vary by plan and can change over time:
    • Agency: 500
    • Pro +: 300
    • Pro: 200
    • Educational: 200
    • Free: 100
  • Video resolution options are SD (480p), HD (720p), and Full HD (1080p).
  • Full HD (1080p) is available only on paid plans.
  • Free plans show a Powtoon watermark on recordings.
  • Paid plans do not show a watermark.
  • If your capture is 3 minutes or shorter, you can open it in Powtoon Studio and edit it like a regular Powtoon.
  • If your capture is longer than 3 minutes, it is view-only. You can still share the link and download it to MP4 if your plan allows it.
  • In Present mode, nothing on your screen is recorded.
  • You can use Present mode in any browser where the extension is installed.
