Why do animations disappear when I download my Powtoon to PowerPoint?

PowerPoint does not support Powtoon animations. When you export to PowerPoint, animated objects are flattened into static slide content, so only the slide snapshot is included in the .pptx file.

Review notes

  • Rewritten as a task-based troubleshooting article, but the source content is informational rather than procedural, so the steps are necessarily confirmatory and limited.
  • No support escalation path was added because the issue is a documented product limitation, not a fixable error.

Summary

PowerPoint does not support Powtoon animations. If you download your Powtoon to PowerPoint, animated objects, including character animations, will appear as static objects in the exported file.

Before you start

  • This applies when exporting to PowerPoint (.pptx).
  • Make sure you understand that PowerPoint will only show a snapshot of each slide, not the animation sequence.

Steps

  1. Open your Powtoon and review the slides that contain animation.
  2. Download or export the project to PowerPoint (.pptx).
  3. Open the exported file in PowerPoint.
  4. Check the slides for animated objects.
  5. Expect those objects to appear as static elements in the PowerPoint file.

What happens next

PowerPoint captures each slide as a snapshot from your Powtoon, taken 0.5 seconds before the end of the slide. Any animation on that slide is not included in the exported .pptx file.
